Work Expectations
- Represent California Teachers Association members in legal matters, including Education Code disciplinary actions, credentialing matters, and disputes with employer Districts.
- Provide advice and counsel to association members on various employment-related issues.
- Handle the intake and management of approximately 20-30 cases per month.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
- Prepare legal documents, including complaints, motions, and briefs.
- Represent clients in administrative hearings, court proceedings, and other legal forums.
- Communicate and negotiate with employer Districts and opposing parties to resolve disputes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation.
- Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and legal precedents.
- Collaborate with colleagues and share knowledge within the organization.
- Provide timely updates to clients and respond to their inquiries.
- Attend meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Uphold ethical standards and professional responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.
