About the Opportunity
A rapidly expanding law firm is seeking a self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Paralegal to support its Probate and Estate Administration practice. The position is based on-site in Hauppauge, Long Island, NY, and involves substantial client contact.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Surrogate’s Court petitions and related documents for probate and estate administration matters.
- Assist attorneys with Estate Administration, Estate Planning, and Elder Law matters.
- Prepare wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care proxies.
- Prepare guardianship applications and other Surrogate’s Court petitions.
- Maintain substantial direct client contact and provide excellent client service.
- Communicate effectively with clients and attorneys.
- Use Microsoft Office, HotDocs, and Time Matters.
- Maintain strong organization and attention to detail across multiple matters.
- Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to legal and administrative issues.
- Work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational and analytical abilities, strong computer skills, and a strong client-service orientation. Experience with probate and/or estate administration and Surrogate’s Court documents is strongly aligned with the position. HotDocs and Time Matters knowledge is also preferred/required based on the provided qualifications.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Approximately 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Primarily onsite in Hauppauge, Long Island
- Fast-paced legal environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Compensation & Benefits
- The position offers a competitive salary based on experience, bonus opportunity, and a 401(k) retirement plan. Benefits include medical insurance, with the firm contributing approximately 80% of the individual medical premium, dental insurance, long-term disability insurance, Aflac, three weeks of vacation PTO upfront, and 56 hours of sick PTO. Benefit eligibility begins after 60 days, effective the first of the month, according to the profile call.
